Tier List — Launch Week

Updated August 7, 2026 · Launch day +1. Placements are an editorial read based on kit identity, beta footage and Arc System Works design patterns. They will shift as the metagame develops.

Marvel Tokon ships with 20 fighters across five preset teams, and the 4v4 tag format means a tier list is only half the story — synergy, gauge economy and assist coverage matter as much as raw power. This list ranks every launch character for two contexts: ranked / competitive and new-player accessibility. Use it to pick your first main, not to settle Twitter arguments.

Confirmed launch facts: 20 characters, five teams, 4v4 tag combat with a shared Vital Gauge, Skill Gauge at 25/50/100 for Skills/Super Skills/Ultimate Skills, and a dedicated Tag Button. Year 1 DLC adds four characters including Phoenix Cyclops.

How to Read This Tier List

Launch Week Competitive Tier List

TierFightersWhy
T0Doctor Doom, StormDoom has setplay, mobility and versatility all in one kit. Storm's zoning and screen control scale brutally in 4v4 where assists extend pressure.
T1Magneto, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain AmericaMagneto controls space; Wolverine and Spider-Man have clean confirms and strong neutral; Iron Man and Cap bring gauge economy and simple team value.
T2Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, Deadpool, Loki, Ghost Rider, Carnage, HulkStrong in the right team but either execution-heavy, range-limited or reliant on assist synergy to cover gaps.
T3Magik, Star-Lord, Blade, Peni Parker, DangerInteresting kits that need more optimization. Magik and Peni have high ceilings but awkward neutral; Star-Lord and Blade feel honest but linear.
T4Green GoblinTricky setplay that looks scarier than it is right now; low damage and fragile conversions make him the weakest early read.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launch roster character lineup The 20-character launch roster is split into five teams, but you can mix any four fighters in custom teams. See beginner picks →

Beginner-Friendly Tier List

If this is your first Arc System Works fighter or your first tag game, ignore the competitive list and start here. These are the characters the game itself marks as Easy on the select screen, ranked by how fast they teach you the systems.

RankFighterWhy start here
SCaptain AmericaTutorial character; fastest Skill Gauge generation in the roster; shield gives you a panic option.
AMs. MarvelClean chain confirms, forgiving hitboxes, mid-range comfort zone.
AWolverineStraightforward brawler with heavy chains; great for learning pressure.
AIron ManProjectiles plus melee options; teaches ranged-neutral fundamentals.
ASpider-ManEasy aerial confirms and strong mobility; fun without being overwhelming.

Team-by-Team Breakdown

Fighting Avengers Beginner Friendly

Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther. The easiest preset team. Cap generates gauge faster than anyone, Iron Man controls mid-range, Hulk applies big-body pressure and Black Panther adds mobility. If you want to learn the game without theorycrafting, run this squad.

Amazing Guardians Mobile

Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker. High mobility and ranged tools, but lighter on pure pressure. Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel are great beginner picks; Star-Lord and Peni require more optimization to shine.

Unbreakable X-Men Versatile

Storm, Wolverine, Magik, Danger. Storm is a potential top-tier zoner; Wolverine is a simple bruiser. Magik and Danger have interesting gimmicks but need more lab time to find consistent routes.

Knights of Doom Villain Setplay

Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage. Doom and Magneto look like the power picks here. Carnage is pure aggression. Green Goblin is the weakest early read — his traps look cool but convert poorly so far.

Samurai Outriders Execution

Ghost Rider, Blade, Deadpool, Loki. The flashiest team and arguably the hardest execution ceiling. Deadpool and Loki reward creative players; Ghost Rider and Blade are more honest but still execution-heavy.

Building Your First Competitive Team

  1. Start with one strong neutral character. Doctor Doom, Storm or Magneto give you a gameplan before the first hit.
  2. Add a simple pressure character. Wolverine or Carnage keep the opponent blocking while your point recovers resources.
  3. Carry an assist that covers your weak range. Iron Man's projectiles or Captain America's shield can cover a melee-heavy third slot.
  4. Keep one safe anchor. Someone with a reliable reversal or good chip game to close rounds when gauge is low.
Launch-week rule: don't lock yourself into a "main team" yet. The metagame will look completely different three weeks from now. Learn one BnB per character first, then commit.
